“Kagura”( "the dance of the gods") is a Japanese word referring to a specific type of Shinto dances — the oldest known to this day. Ka is from the word kami ("god(s)") and the dance is an ancient Shinto ritual. “Takachiho” is a name of place on mountain which sited in the middle Kyushu area. Accoiding to “NIHON-SHOKI(One of the oldest book in Japan)”, Takachiho is a place where Japanese god started build”, Therefore, Kagura of Takachiho is though as the oldest ethnic dance in Japan.
